Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The University nine defeated the Carlisle Indian School team yesterday, by a score of 14 to 4.
Altogether, the game was one of the poorest exhibitions of baseball which the team has given this year, for when it was found that the Carlisle pitcher was not particularly strong, and that a victory was practically certain, the men became careless and slow, and seemed to make little effort either in the field or on the bases. The fielding was deplorably weak throughout the latter part of the game, nine errors being made, all of which were inexcusable. The base-running was equally discouraging, especially in the first inning when Randall was caught between first and second, and later in the third, when Greenough was run off at third.
An aggregate of twelve hits would seem to indicate consistently heavy hitting, but Charles, the Carlisle pitcher, was undoubtedly one of the least effective men whom the nine has faced this year. Several times, however, opportune hits were made.--notably in the fifth when Matthews drove a three-base hit to centre field with three men on bases; and in the eighth when Bolton brought in the last three runs with a long home run hit. The general listlessness of the team was furthermore explemplified by the slowness of the batters in getting to the plate in their turns.
Castle, who pitched the first six innings, proved fairly steady, allowing only five hits and striking out three men. Coburn who replaced him showed his usual speed, striking out five men.
The playing of the Carlisle team was crude in all departments of the game, and it is largely through their errors that Harvard was able to make so large a score.
After making two runs in the first inning by a timely bunching of hits, Harvard was unable to score again until the fifth. when with three men on bases, Matthews knocked out a three-base hit. In the sixth, a single, an error by first base and two passed balls brought in two more runs. Randall opened the eighth with a home run. Kernan and McCarty got to first base on a fielder's choice and an error respectively, and Bolton hit to centre field for a home run, bringing in the last three runs.
Carlisle scored in the first on a base on balls and on a three-base hit. In the seventh and eighth a bunching of errors by the University team allowed them two more runs.
