RED TOP, June 13.--The order of the first crew was changed today for the first time since the crews have been here. Meier was moved from five in the second crew to four in the first, and Ober went to bow in the four-oar. The Freshmen rowed early this afternoon to below the Navy Yard and back. Little improvement was shown in either time or recovery. At 6 o'clock, the first crew paddled to the lower end of the course, rowing a 28 stroke. The course was then rowed in 21 minutes, 45 seconds under good conditions. The first two miles was covered at a 30 stroke. At the Navy Yard the second crew entered the race a length and a half ahead. In the last half-mile the first crew raised the stroke to 34 but the second crew finished two feet ahead. The first crew showed great improvement and the men finished strong with good reserve power.
