Second Nine, 13; Freshmen, 0.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University second nine defeated the Freshmen yesterday afternoon in an uninteresting and poorly played game on Soldiers Field by a score of 13 to 0. The batting of the Freshmen was weak; for the most part the men knocked short high flies. The fielding was listless and lacked judgement allowing the Second nine to run bases at will. Greene was unsteady in the box, and with men on bases in the fifth inning used little headwork. Brennan, who replaced him, pitched more effectively, but lost control at times. The Second team batted well, and bunched its hits. The fielding of the team was fast, and the throwing to bases accurate. Jackson's pitching was strong, and steady at critical moments; he struck out twelve men, and gave only two bases on balls.

Grant's catch of a hard liner to third base was a feature of the game.
