The University baseball team will play Brown at 4 o'clock this afternoon on Soldiers Field.
The Brown team is entirely new this year and has at times shown surprisingly good from, but at others has played a poor game. It was twice beaten by Yale, on April 21 by a score of 19 to 1 and on May 9 by a score of 10 to 1. On April 20 Brown was defeated by Holy Cross by a score of 7 to 1, and on May 5 by Dartmouth, 10 to 0. The team also lost to Pennsylvania on May 11, 7 to 0. On April 25, however, it defeated Princeton, 7 to 3, making eleven hits against Stevens, and last Saturday it defeated Dartmouth by a score of 1 to 0 in a game in which the Brown team made no errors, and Tift, the Brown pitcher, allowed only one hit.
Coburn will pitch this afternoon and Quigley will catch, as Stephenson is out of the game temporarily on account of an injured knee.
The batting orders will be as follows: In practice yesterday afternoon, much attention was given to the work of the out fielders and to base running. In addition to this, batting and fielding practice were held as usual, the work as a whole being accurate and spirited.
