More Entries than Last Year.--Informal Events Unusually Successful.

More than 200 men completed in the second annual University field day sports held on Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon. Most of the events were closely contested, and the average performance was an improvement over last year.

Besides the mile and half mile races which were both run in good time, the most interesting event was a three quarters mile relay race between the members of the first Newell and first Weld graded crews, won by the former in a close finish. In addition to the regular thirteen events there were pickapack, three-legged, wheelbarrow and obstacle races.

Contrary to the announcement made in yesterday morning's CRIMSON, the Garcelon Cups were awarded to the winners of the high and low hurdles.

Track Events.

100-yard dash--Won by S. T. Bittenbender '07; second, H. V. Blaxter '05; third, J. L. Swarts '07. Time, 10 4-5 s.

120-yard hurdles--Won by R. E. Nason 1L.; second, S. F. Morse '07; third, H. A. Taylor '07. Time, 18 3-5 s.

220-yard dash--Won by S. T. Bittenbender '07; second, E. K. Thurlow '06; third, F. A. Jenks '07. Time, 25 s.
