Improvements in 1904 Album.

The Senior Photographic Committee, through the kindness of the University Press, have been able to secure a "dummy" of the class album, which is now on exhibition at Notman's. This dummy shows the general form and size of the album, its binding and the quality of the paper, printing and half-tone work. A great many improvements have been made over recent albums, chiefly the publication of a short sketch of the life of each man. In 1901 and 1902 a so-called "Class Book" was issued containing a sketch of each man and a class history: this book was sold for three dollars and the album was issued at the price of five dollars. This year, however, the Photographic Committee have put both the lives and the class history in the album, still keeping the price five dollars. This addition, to the album has greatly increased its cost of publication and it will be necessary to sell 500 copies to avoid a deficit; but up to the present time only about 180 members of the class have made deposits at Notman's. Inasmuch as the number of copies to be published is limited by the number of applications, it is very necessary that Seniors wishing copies of the album should make a deposit at once.

Besides the addition or the "class lives" there are several other changes in this year's album which go to make it a much more attractive book. Instead of the imitation moroco binding which easily loses its shape and wears off, a heavy, durable buckram binding will be used. The paper is more flexible, of a much better quality and better suited to half-tone engraving than heretofore. In previous yeas the cuts have been made by the gelatine process, with which weather conditions are apt seriously to interfere. This year, however, all the engraving work is of the very best half-tone quality; the improvement can easily be seen by comparing the cuts in the old album with those in the "dummy" both of which are at Notman's.

The album will be issued on June 15. Men who have made the deposit of two dollars will then be notified and will be able to secure a copy of the album by paying the balance of three dollars.
