Progress of the Crews.

The University squad is rowing in two divisions, under Mr. Colson. A faster stroke is being developed and the men are getting to row more easily together and to keep in the centre of the boat. The crews are using a long, even stroke, but hang badly at the full reach. There is still so much ice in the river that the crews cannot get on the water for at least another week. The ice is very thick, and has torn up the marine railway, so that a new one will have to be built for the launch.

Wray is coaching the 1904 squad, numbering about twenty, and the 1906 squad of twenty-four. These two squads will probably be moved to the Weld boathouse as soon as they get on the river.

Vail is coaching the 1905 squad of twenty-six men and the 1907 club crew squad of thirty. Wray's and Vail's squads use the tank and machines on alternate days.

V. Hollingsworth has been elected temporary captain of the 1906 squad, in place of Gill, who has been taken to the University squad.
