INTERCOLLEGIATE FENCING.

An intercollegiate fencing meet between Harvard Yale. University of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be held this evening at 8 o'clock in the Gymnasium. An admission fee of 25 cents will be charged, and tickets may be obtained at Leavitt & Peirce's or at the door.

This contest has been arranged this year for the first time, and is of interest as the University team will compete therein against two colleges (Yale and Pennsylvania) which the team will subsequently fence in the annual intercollegiate meet to be held April 1, at the New York Athletic Club.

In the meet tonight there will be three rounds, each of eighteen four-minute bouts, and to save time two bouts will be fought simultaneously. The teams will consist of three men and each man will fence one bout with every man on each of the other teams.

The program is as follows: First round--Harvard vs. Yale: Tech. vs. Penn.: second round--Harvard vs. Penn.: Tech. vs. Yale: third round--Harvard vs. Tech.: Yale vs. Penn.

The Harvard squad is composed of H. W. Holmes 1G., captain. A. Tyng '04, W. MacLeod '05, W. F. Law '07, R. S. Earle 2L. The first three men have fenced in every contest this year, but Law and Earle will be given a chance against some of the teams tonight. The other teams will be composed as follows:

U. of P--B. O. Frick, captain, L. M. Fleisher, A. C. Brand.

M. I. T.--J. Lage, W. Riley, and Lieutenant Gatewood.

The following six men will serve as judges: Mr. J. F. Powers, B. A. A., H. J. Elam 3L., Lieutenant Henry, U. S. N., Mr. J. T. Shaw, B. A. A., Lieutenant McBride, U. S. N., Dr. F. W. Allen, B. A. A., W. B. Tyler, Secretary of the Amateur Fencers League of America in New England. Mr. S. Cabot, B. A. A. will be the director.

The team's chances for winning tonight are very good. It has already defeated Tech. twice. Yale has been defeated by Annapolis and Columbia: as also has Pennsylvania.
