General W. A. Bancroft '78, gave an interesting lecture last night in the Union, on the Boston Elevated Railway Company's System. General Bancroft explained the relations of the company with the state and described briefly the working of the principal departments of the system. He illustrated his talk with pictures of the company's different apparatus and compared its appointments with those of other companies in the United States and abroad. Several views were shown, illustrating the obstacles encountered in subway and elevated railway construction.
