Perkins '06 on the first turn secured a three-yard lead and handed this advantage over to Cole who increased the distance to 10 yards. Shirk finished 22 yards ahead. The time was 3 minutes 15 3-5 seconds.

In the individual events, G. C. Cunningham '04 won the final heat of the 40-yard novice from scratch in 4 4-5 seconds. F. M. Murphy 1L. won a trial heat in this event in 4 4-5 seconds. In the 40-yard dash invitation, M. Williams sS., won third place in the final heat. W. P. Henneberry, Jr., '06, with a handicap of 7 feet, won second place in the 40-yard dash, handicap.
