During the past week the football practice has been light, consisting mainly of work intended to perfect the smooth running off of plays, and of drill in the more mechanical points of the game. Open practice has been short and many of the regular players have been given a rest. Ticket applications for the Harvard game have been so numerous that they can be no sale open to the public. Two university mass meetings have been held for the rehearsal of cheering and singing, and several others will take place before the Princeton game.
Last Monday the German Club began work in preparation for its annual play. J. G. Rogers '05 has been elected The tredirigend and C. S. Harris '05 Muskdirigend.
Compulsory freshman gymnastics for the year began last week with larger classes than ever before.
On Wednesday the senior class elected the following officers: M. Sargent, class secretary; J. G. Rogers, class poet; A. P. McKinstrey, class orator; F. H. Day, chairman of the class day committee; E. P. Rogers, chairman of the supper committee.
Trials for the Princeton debate, held on Friday, resulted in the retention for further trial of the following men: academic--A. P. McKinstrey '05, L. O. Bergh '06, E. H. Hart '07, A. L. Doherty '07, P. W. Murphy '08, W. D. Myers '05; scientific--J. A. Baker '06; law--H. C. Lust '06, B. E. Case '06, B. S. Pousner '06, W. R. Camblos '07.
C. O. Cooke M.'05 won the university tennis championship Thursday, defeating W. K. Van Reypen in the final round, 6-1, 8-10, 6-4, 6-3.
The most important political event of the past week was the parade of the Democratic Club on Friday night. Judge Parker addressed a college men's meeting on Wednesday, and Secretary W. H. Taft '74 spoke Thursday at the Hyperion Theatre on the Philippines.
