The Seniors won the class football championship yesterday afternoon by defeating the Sophomores, 15 to 0. In defensive play, both teams were fairly strong; on the offense, however, the faster backs and more powerful attack of the Seniors proved too strong for the Sophomore line. Both teams were frequently held for downs and punting was frequent.
In the first half, the Seniors kicked off to Nichols who ran the ball back 18 yards to the 38-yard line. After several exchanges of punts the Seniors obtained the ball on their own 45-yard line and worked steadily down the field through guards and tackles for a touchdown, Fish making the score. After a series of fumbles, the half ended with the ball in the possession of the Seniors on the Sophomores' 20-yard line.
In the second half, the Sophomores kicked off. A fumble and several exchanges on downs left the ball in the hands of the Seniors at the centre of the field. Gains through the line by Fish and Jewett carried the ball to the 1-yard line, from where Fish scored the second touchdown. The third touchdown was made by Titus on a quarterback run from the 10-yard line after the ball had been carried down the field from the 50-yard line. All three goals were missed. Many substitutes were played by the Seniors during the last few minutes. The award of numerals will be announced shortly.
