J. L. Derby, of New York, has been elected captain of the Freshman football team. Derby is 18 years old and prepared at Groton School where he played halfback on the school team for two years.
The Freshman football practice yesterday afternoon consisted of punting for the backs, breaking through, and a short line-up against the second team. In the line-up the first eleven showed considerable improvement and, although the line was slow in charging, the whole team played a faster game than on Saturday. The work of the backs was especially good.
