The cross country work will begin this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the track, and hereafter men will be taken three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The runs will be short at first--probably about two or three miles. This distance will be gradually increased as the season advances. About November 1 trials will be held to select a team of six men to represent the University in the Intercollegiate Cross Country Meet, which will probably be held about Thanksgiving. The place and date has not yet been announced. The distance will be six miles.
The importance of this work cannot be too strongly emphasized. It will develop speed and endurance, which at this season of the year can be acquired in no other way. Many men who are not taking any other form of exercise would do well to come out and take part in these runs. Even if they do not make the team this fall, their chances for the spring will be greatly improved.
All men wishing to come out should report to Mr. Graham at the track. H. H. Rowland '06, has been appointed temporary captain, and the squad is directed to follow him.
