Fall baseball practice began yesterday afternoon on the Freshman diamond, Soldiers Field, with about forty men out.
The work of the candidates was encouraging and showed improvement over the fall practice of former years. Captain Randall, W. C. Matthews '05 and B. K. Stephenson '06 coached. After a short fielding practice a game was played between two teams, C. and D. C. by scoring five runs in the ninth inning, won by the score of 9 to 6.
Beginning tomorrow the squad will be reduced to four teams, A, B, C, and D, who will play a series of three out of five games, A vs. B on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and C ys. D on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The practice will end after a final series of two out of three games between the winning teams of each squad has been played. A cup will be presented to each member of the winning team.
