New Haven, Conn., Oct. 12.--Yale defeated the Springfield Training School eleven on Yale Field this afternoon by the score of 6 to 0, in a hard game marred by much fumbling and numerous penalties. On the offense, Yale was strong; her defense, however, was unable to withstand Springfield's heavy line and strong attack, and allowed the visiting team to make first down five times. Springfield gained ground chiefly on Yale's fumbling of punts, and at one time, was within striking distance of a touchdown. Time was called with the ball in Yale's possession on Springfield's 2-yard line.
The Yale line-up: r.e., Stuart; r.t., Hogan; r.g., Tripp; c., Roraback; l.g., Kinney; l.t., Bloomer; l.e., Cates; q.b., Hutchinson; r.h.b., Quill; l.h.b., Stevenson; f.b., Shevlin.
