The practice of the Freshman squad for the past two days has been chiefly directed towards weeding out unpromising material. After the preliminary work yesterday in punting and running down on kicks, for the ends and backs, and in charging and breaking through, for the linemen, a short game was played between two elevens, A and B. Though both teams were strong on the defense, they were unable to gain ground consistently when in possession of the ball. In the last few minutes of play, however, on a tackle back formation, team B rushed the ball 25 yards, and Pell finally scored a touchdown.
The line-up was as follows: Team A--Brown, l.e.; Lovering, l.t.; Talbot, l.g.; Plumb, c.; Brewer, r.g.; Wagstaff, r.t.; Bacon, r.e.; Pope, q.b.; Orr. l.h.b.; Markoe, r.h.b; Somes, f.b.: Team B--Hadden, l.e.; Pell, l.t.; Richardson, l.g.; Grant, c.; Hyde, r.g.; Inches, r.t.; Ball, r.e.; Starr, q.b.; Lincoln, l.h.b.; Derby, r.h.b.; Mason, f.b.
