The executive and advisory committees of the Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association of America will today inspect the Stadium and decide between it and Franklin Field, Philadelphia, as a place to hold the intercollegiate track meet in the spring. The choice of a new track is necessary because the Berkeley Oval where the intercollegiate games have been held for many years, has recently been turned into building lots. Franklin Field was inspected on November 7, but no decision was made pending the present visit to Cambridge. One of the principal objections to Franklin Field is that it has no 220-yard straight-away.
Early this afternoon the committees of the association will meet at the Touraine Hotel and will then be conducted to Soldiers Field for a thorough inspection of the Stadium. At 6.30 o'clock this evening, dinner will be served for them in the Committee Room of the Union, and directly afterwards the regular business meeting will take place. The decision of the committees will be presented at the general meeting of the association in New York about the middle of February and will without doubt be ratified. At the committee meeting today a design will be selected for the new intercollegiate cup.
The members of the executive and advisory committees of the association, all of whom will be present today, are as follows: executive committee--G. E. Parks, Yale; J. C. Gilpin, Pennsylvania; E. M. Armstrong, Princeton; R. Berry, Cornell; E. Stauffen, Jr., Columbia; P. Dana, Harvard; advisory committee--G. T. Kerby, Columbia; M. Kendrick, Pennsylvania; T. Gerrish, Harvard.
