Professor Coolidge's Gift.

The collection of about 6,000 books on the history of Germany and of German civilization, the gift of Professor A. C. Coolidge, has been received at the College Library. The books will be unpacked without delay, but will not be available for any general use for some time, owing to the limited working capacity in the Library.

This collection is a portion of the valuable private library of the late eminent German scholar, Professor Conrad von Maurer of Munich. Very few of the books duplicate any already in the possession of the University.

These books are intended to form in the Library the nucleus to a special collection of works on the history of Germany and German civilization. They are given to Harvard College as a memorial recalling the visit of Prince Henry of Prussia to the University in 1902. It is to be called the Hohenzollern Collection, in honor of the present ruling family in Germany.
