TRACK TEAM PROSPECTS.

Judging from the members of last year's track teams who have returned to college, Harvard will be, as in former years, strong in the track events, while Yale's strength, with the exception of the hurdlers, will be in the field. But for a few exceptions, the University has no very strong performers, although there are some good second and third string men. This year the team will have the benefit of graduate coaching in several of the field events, and W. T. Garcelon '95, will as usual have charge of the hurdlers.

In the sprints W. A. Schick '05 will be the University's best representative, but L. Grilk '04 and M. Y. Perkins '06, are both steady performers. E. C. Rust 1L. may also compete in these events. Yale has lost F. R. Moulton, but will have J. A. Moorehead '04 and C. B. Long '04, whose strained tendon has prevented him from competing in anything but the quarter-mile for the past two years.

In the 440 yards run Harvard will have E. C. Rust 1L. and E. J. Dives '06, who won third place in the dual games last year; while Yale will have S. R. Burnap '05.

S. Curtis '05 and F. S. Buffum '06 are the University's best representatives in the 880 yards run, but Yale will have E. A. Demming '04, who won first place in both the Harvard and Princeton games.

In the distance runs W. A. Colwell 3G., J. H. Hall 1G., J. H. Stone '04, A. King 1L., A. Dana '06 and D. W. Howes 1G., are experienced runners. Yale will be represented by C. S. Jacobus '05, C. B. Alcott '05S. and W. J. Hall '04.

Yale has good hurdlers in E. Clapp '04, who won both events last year, H. W. Eales '04 and L. W. Mertz '05S., while Harvard has F. W. Bird '04, F. R. Bauer '04 and A. Peterson '04.

In the high jump R. E. Crane '05, R. Robeson '05, A. Derby 1L. and F. M. Murphy 1L., will have to compete against a strong Yale contingent consisting of G. F. Vietot '05, W. J. Jack '05S, and C. F. Alexander '05S.

The University team is weak in the broad jump with only W. B. Jordan '06 and D. R. Ayres '05, while Yale has M. H. Bowman '05S., who won the event last year, C. S. Fallows and C. H. Banks '06.

The pole-vault will have some strong Yale entries in W. McLanahan '05S. and M. H. Behr '05S., who tied for first place in the dual games last year, while J. C. Preston '04S. and J. Cook '04S. are also back. A. Robeson '04, E. M. Sawyer '04 and R. Gring '04 will be the University's pole-vaulters.

Harvard is stronger than usual in the shot-put, with F. H. Schoenfuss '04 and C. H. Robinson '04, although J. G. Tingley '05 has left College. Yale is counting on E. T. Glass '04, R. P. Kinney '05S. and P. T. White '06.

T. L. Shevlin '06, M. Harris '05 and J. J. Hogan '05 will throw the hammer for Yale, while at present R. H. Oveson '05 is the only man from the University who shows promise.

Several new men at the University have done well and should develop under Mr. Graham's coaching.
