Plans for Emerson Hall.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Plans of Emerson Hall, which are being prepared by Guy Lowell '92, will probably be submitted to the Corporation within the next two weeks. The Professors of the Philosophy Department will then be asked to examine them, and determine whether they satisfy all the needs of the department. If they are satisfactory, the contracts will be let as soon as possible, and work will be commenced at an early date. The building will be erected on the ground at present occupied by Professor Shaler's residence, and will be devoted exclusively to the work of the Philosophy Department.

The visiting committee appointed by the Board of Overseers to solicit donations for the building fund has turned over to the treasurer of Harvard College approximately $154,000. This is about $4,000 more than it was originally planned to raise, and no effort has been recently made to increase the amount as it is not definitely known whether additional funds will be needed.
