Summer Improvements.

During the summer comparatively few changes have been made in the buildings and grounds of the University. The Divinity Chapel has been remodeled, the walls having been paneled with oak, and a new flooring put down. Part of the ceiling has also been made over, and a new pulpit and pews are being constructed. The chapel should be ready for use within a week.

On Quincy street, directly behind Sever Hall, the construction of fence and gate presented by the Class of 1885, is making rapid progress, the brick and stone work being almost completed.

The ivy on the south wall of Massachusetts, and the east side of Harvard Hall has been removed, the vines being cut close to the ground. This was done in order to save the roots, the ivy having been severely damaged by a cold spell this spring. The vines were about one hundred and fifty years old.

Waverly Hall, the new dormitory on the corner of Mr. Auburn St. and Mifflin place, will be finished when College opens. It is built of granite, yellow tile and red brick, and contains six stories. There are thirty two single suites, many of which may be combined so as to form double or triple suites. The building has an elevator, house telephone and swimming pool. The pool is finished in yellow tile, and is 16 foot long by 25 feet wide. Henry Green of Cambridge is the owner of the building.
