Yale won the University boat-race at New London on June 26, Harvard won the four-oar, and the Freshman event was judged a tie.

The fours were sent off at 3 in a heavy sea. The University four quickly took the lead, and gained steadily until they finished three lengths ahead in 11m., 19 1-2s.

The University eights started at 6 o'clock under perfect conditions. Yale rowing a low stroke was behind during the first of the race, but soon took the lead and held it to the finish. They came in about three lengths ahead in 20m., 20s.

The Freshman race was started at 7. The Yale crew lead steadily till beyond the mile mark, when Harvard pulled up slowly and the two crews covered the last quarter side by side, finishing a tie race in 10m. 13s.

After the races W. James, Jr., '03 of Cambridge was elected captain for 1903. As James is going abroad, however, he has resigned the captaincy and D. D. L.
