RED TOP, GALES FERRY, June 15.--This afternoon the University crew took a hard row down-stream under favorable conditions. The time was 21m. 9s. The work showed much improvement, especially in watermanship. The Freshman eight went over the first mile of the course with the University boat, and by rowing a somewhat higher stroke, finished half a length ahead of it. The University crew then went over the rest of the course alone, finishing very strong. Ober replaced Swaim, who is slightly indisposed, at bow this morning, but Swaim took his place again during the time row this afternoon.
