RED TOP, GALES FERRY, June 12.--Owing to the high wind which prevailed all day the crews did not go out until 6 o'clock this evening, when the two eights took a racing start and rowed a mile together. The University crew showed a decided superiority throughout the work. Swaim again took his regular place at bow in the University eight and Burchard returned to seven in the Freshman boat. George Mumford '87, captain of the '86 crew, arrived at Red Top today and helped coach Higginson in directing the work.
The four-oared rowed this afternoon with Ober again at bow, and it now seems very likely that he will keep this position.
