It has been found impossible to have the new Yard gate, to be given by the class of '85, erected before Commencement day as was originally intended. However the contract for building the gate has been awarded and the gate will be finished before the opening of College in the fall. The site chosen for the gate is opposite the rear entrance to Sever Hall.
The plans drawn by McKim, Mead and White, provide for a gate of limestone and Harvard brick in keeping with the rest of the new fence, but varying in design from any of the other gates. As yet no plans have been made for completing the Yard fence on Quincy street and Broadway.
