The members of the University crew squad were yesterday afternoon divided into two evenly graded eights which rowed a few short stretches in front of the boat house to try the rigging. Mr. Storrow and Captain Higginson watched from the launch but did no coaching.
The crews rowed in the following order:
Stroke, G. Bancroft; 7, Sheafe; 6, H. Bancroft; 5, Ladd; 4, Bullard; 3, Wood; 2, Emory; bow, Goodell; cox., Wadleigh.
Stroke, Evans; 7, Biddle; 6, Burton; 5, Henderson; 4, DuBois; 3, McConnell; 2, Harding; bow, Martin; cox., Howe.
Lawrence, Fitzgerald and Shuebruk took turns rowing in a pair oar.
The two graded crews at the Newell rowed yesterday, but the work of the Weld graded eights will not begin till Monday when senior, intermediate and junior crews will be formed.
