ITHACA, May 29.--Cornell defeated Harvard in lacrosse today by the score of 4 to 3. Throughout the first half of the game the playing was fast, and even, except that Cornell excelled Harvard in dodging. In the second half each team scored once, but the ball was kept in Harvard's territory. K. K. Smith made two goals for Harvard and Blaxter made one. The goals for Cornell were scored by Moran, Curran and Ferguson. Warner of Hobart College was referee. The result of this game makes the intercollegiate championship a tie between Cornell and Columbia, each university having won two matches and lost one. Harvard and Pennsylvania have lost two matches and won one.

This afternoon the University team will play Hobart College at Geneva, N. Y. The team will return to Cambridge Sunday evening.

N. L. Tilney '06 won first place in the novice chess tournament, with 4 1-2 out of 5 games to his credit in the final round.
