The Freshman crew will race the Worcester High School crew over the mile and one-half course on Lake Quinsigamond this afternoon at half-past five. The Freshmen will leave the Square at 8.15 for the Back Bay Station, where they will take the 9 o'clock train for Worcester.
The material for the Freshman crew is fully up to the average, but the men do not row well together, as there have been several changes in the orders this week. Hyde was put in at stroke, replacing Shepard, on Tuesday. On Thursday, however, as Hyde had to stop rowing on account of his heart, Pleasonton took his place.
The Worcester crew is one of the strongest that the school has had in recent years. Last year the Worcester crew defeated the Freshmen by a length and a quarter in 8 m. 15 s. Following are the orders of the crews and the weights of the men:
Freshmen--Stroke, Pleasonton, 170; 7, Hollingsworth, 175; 6, Guild, 171; 5, Kellogg, 168; 4, White (captain), 158; 3, Burchard, 162; 2, Judd, 158; bow, Flint, 157; cox., Williams, 115.
Worcester--Stroke, Vaughan, 145; 7, Moore, 175; 6, Macklin (captain), 196; 5, Fartiett, 158; 4, E. Taylor, 148; 3, Gleason, 166; 2, Clason, 155; bow, Kerns, 128; cox., R. Taylor, 120, or Foule, 125.
