Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
The University baseball team defeated Bowdoin yesterday in an uninteresting game, by the score of 7 to 3. Weakness at the bat again prevented Harvard from rolling up a far larger score, for in other departments, the men played well. The base-running showed some improvement over the Pennsylvania game, Carr and Coolidge doing especially good work. The fielding, too, with the exception of a bad fumble of an easy grounder by Carr, was very steady and fast.
Stillman pitched steadily, although he did not seem to exert himself to any extent. While striking out eight men, he allowed only six safe hits, and gave no bases on balls. He also showed improvement in batting. Stephenson, who caught in the last three innings, showed improvement, but lacked the speed and accuracy of Kernan's throwing. Clarkson batted well, with a home run and a single to his credit, and made one excellent throw home from centre field in the eighth inning.
The Bowdoin team was only of average ability, but bunched its hits well, and took advantage of Carr's error.
Carr the first man at the bat, reached first on an error, was advanced to second on Coolidge's sacrifice, and to third on Randall's infield grounder; and scored on a timely hit by Clarkson. In the second inning, Stillman's base hit was fumbled, allowing him to reach second and Story got to first on an error. R. Kernana and Carr then singled successively each bringing in a run, and raising the score to a total of 3-0. An error by Coffin in the sixth allowed Carr to reach second, from where he scored on Harvey's fumble of a throw. In the fifth, Stephenson received a base on balls and H. Kernana followed with a single, both gaining a base on a double steal, and scoring on Stillman's single. One more run was made in the seventh inning on a pretty home-run hit by Clarkson. The score: Earned runs--Harvard 2. Stolen bases--Carr 2, Coolidge, Stephenson, H. Kernan, Stillman 2, Bowdoin 2, Home run--Clarkson. Three--base hit--Blanchard. Two-base hit--R. Kernan, Harvey, Bases on balls--by Oakes: Stepheson 2. Struck out--by Stillman: Coffin, Clark 2, Blanchard, Oakes, Munro, Cox, Bly; by Oakes: Coolidge, Randall, Story, Carr. Passed ball--Stephenson. Time of game--1h. 45m. Umpire--Murray. Today the work of the nine will include a practice game with the Freshmen on Soldiers Field.
