The preliminary round of match play for the University golf championship was played off at the Oakley Country Club yesterday, resulting as follows: H. C. Egan '05 defeated H. B. Hollins, Jr., '04, 5 up and 3 to play; W. E. Egan '05 defeated F. H. Ellis '06, 2 up and 1 to play; P. D. Lamson '05 defeated M. McBurney '06, 6 up and 4 to play; W. C. Chick '05 defeated W. R. Tuckerman '03, 4 up and 3 to play.

The pairings for the semi-final round, which is to be played today or tomorrow, are as follows: H. C. Egan '05 vs. W. E. Egan '05; P. D. Lamson '05 vs. W. C. Chick '05.
