Second Nine Loses to Dean.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Second nine lost its game with Dean Academy at Franklin on Saturday by the score of 14 to 4. The chief fault of the team was, as in all the games played this sparing, a disappointing weakness at the bat; the base-running was sleepy, and the fielding full of errors, a fact partly accounted for, however, by the unevenness of the ground, second base being four feet above the plate. Dean's batting was the feature of the game. After the first inning, Hutchinson pitched a fair game for the Second nine, allowing only two bases on balls. The best batting for the Second nine was done by Parker and Greenough; Marshall accepted all of his six chances at second base. For Dean, Tatch pitched a strong game, giving but one base on balls and striking out nine men. Greene did the best batting of the game, making a home run, a double and two singles. The score by innings:   1  2  3  4  5  6  7  8  9 Second Nine,  0  0  0  0  0  0  2  2  0--4 Dean,  6  2  0  0  3  1  0  2  x--14
