Freshmen, 18; Volkmann's, 5.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Freshman baseball nine defeated Volkmann's School in a slow and uninteresting game yesterday afternoon by the score of 18 to 5. As a whole the game was characterized by poor throwing and by fumbling at critical times. Although the base-running was an improvement, at bat the men still show a tendency to hit the ball into the air.

MacCarty's home run in the last inning was the feature of the game. In the second inning Wadsworth of Volkmann's broke his ankle in a collision with the third baseman.

The score by innings:   1  2  3  4  5  6  7 Freshmen,  1  3  9  1  0  4  0--18 Volkmann's,  2  0  0  0  0  2  1--5
