Professor Edward Henry Strobel, Bemis Professor of International Law, has been appointed legal adviser to the King of Siam. He will obtain a leave of absence for two years from his duties at the Law School, and sail for Siam in a few months. The position up to a few years ago was held by a Belgian authority in international law.
Professor Strobel graduated from Harvard with the class of 1877, and from the Harvard Law School in 1882. He has seen much diplomatic service, having been secretary of the United States legation in Madrid, third Assistant Secretary of State during the second Cleveland administration, Minister to Ecuador, and later Minister to Chile.
He is a member of the French Legion of Honor.
