The University has received from Mrs. John Markoe of Philadelphia $5000 for the establishment of the Markoe Scholarship in Harvard College in memory of her son James Markoe, a member of the Class of 1889, who recently lost his life in a runaway accident while attempting to save the lives of others.
A gift of $3000 has been received from Miss Agathe Schurz and Miss Marianne Schurz of New York for the establishment of the Herbert Schurz Memorial Fund, the income to be used to defray the cost of caring for needy students at the Stillman Infirmary. The gift is in memory of Herbert Schurz of the Class of 1897.
