In the first debate of the interclass series, the Seniors last evening defeated the Juniors. The question was: "Resolved, That the following form of closure should be adopted by the Senate; (a) a motion shall be in order at any time, setting a time for voting on a bill, which motion shall be decided by a two thirds vote without debate; (b) the time for the vote shall be extended, if necessary, to allow every opponent of the bill, so desiring, to have an hour in which to state his objections to the bill."
The Seniors supported the affirmative of the question, speaking in the following order: E. C. Johnson, F. W. Catlett, and D. A. McCabe. The order of the Junior speakers was: M. M. Horblit, H. O. Ruby, and I. I. Mattuck.
Both in form and in their statement of the case, the Seniors outclassed their opponents: the argument of the Juniors was fairly well presented, but failed to meet, except in an incidental way, the contentions of the affirmative.
