Thirty candidates reported for the first practice of the hockey team, which was held yesterday afternoon on Hammond's Pond. The work consisted mainly of practice in shooting and passing the puck, after which preliminary work the squad was divided into four teams, and two games were played between them. Practice will be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at a place to be announced on a bulletin at Leavitt and Peirce's by 12 o'clock.
The squad will be considerably increased within the next few days; practice on the ice will be held daily if the weather permits. On days on which there is no ice there will be practice in shooting and lifting in the Gymnasium, and short road runs. There will be a cut in the squad before the Christmas recess, and a training table will be established early in January.
