The Basket-Throwing Contest.

The basket-throwing in the preliminary round of the contest yesterday afternoon for the silver trophy offered by the University basketball management was very poor, only eight of the forty-three contestants throwing three baskets or over out of the ten possible chances. Six men tied with a score of two successful throws and as a result fourteen men were retained for the final round tonight. But three of the regular players of this year's University team scored more than one goal. The final round in the tournament will be held tonight at 7 o'clock on the floor of the Gymnasium.

Following are the scores made by the fourteen successful contestants in yesterday afternoon's trial, the men being named in the order which will be followed in tonight's contest: H. R. Snyder, 5; F. H. Schoenfuss, 4; C. Jones, 4; C. E. Ware, 3; R. B. Gring, 3; C. D. Proctor, 3; I. F. Story, 3; C. Fosdick, 3; R. C. Bourne, 2; E. H. B. Humphries, 2; H. B. Bigelow, 2; M. I. Strauss, 2; C. Stoddard, 2; N. O. Simard, 2.
