Removal of Trophy Room.

R. B. Merriman '96, instructor in history, A. Ames '03, and E. B. Krumbhaar '01 have been appointed a committee by the Athletic Committee to investigate into the advisability of moving the Trophy Room from the Hemenway Gymnasium to the Union. The committee held its first meeting last Friday evening and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed removal. Another meeting will be held in a short time to decide on the action to be recommended and the report of the committee will then be submitted to the Athletic Committee for final action on the matter.

A similar committee was appointed last year and reported in favor of the removal of the Trophy Room to the Union for the following reasons: that Mr. Hemenway and a large majority of the undergraduates approve of such action; that the present location is outside the centre of undergraduate activity; and that the room in the Gymnasium is needed by Dr. Sargent as a lecture room. The placing of the Trophy Room in the Union, however, was opposed by a number of graduates for the reason that the Trophy Room is a place of general interest and the Union a club accessible only to members. On account of the divided opinion the matter was allowed to go by without any action.
