HARVARD, 5; BROWN, 3.

Winning runs made in Eleventh Inning. Batting Unsatisfactory.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard defeated Brown at Providence yesterday in eleven innings by the score of 5 to 3. The game was keenly contested throughout, both pitchers allowing very few hits. Harvard had two earned runs. Brown had none. Harvard's fielding was good, but the batting and base running were unsatisfactory.

Wendell made two put outs, a sacrifice hit, got his base on balls once, and scored one run. Coolidge made a base hit, a sacrifice hit, and two put outs. Randall had three errors, but made a pretty stop of high throw from Matthews in the ninth inning and got hit by a pitched ball in the eleventh. Skilton made a beautiful one-handed catch of a line hit. Timely hits by Stillman and Daly in the eleventh inning brought in the winning runs for Harvard. Two runs were also scored in the first inning. In the first inning Wendell got to first on Foulder's error and reached second on a hit by Clarkson to shortstop, who fumbled the ball. Randall hit to third and was put out at first, but Wendell came home and Clarkson took third. Clarkson scored the next run on a pass ball. The runs in the last inning were made by Randall, getting hit by a pitched ball, and then by Skilton, Stillman and Daly making three clean hits. Stillman's hit was for two bases.
