Exeter, 1; Freshmen, 0.

Exeter defeated the Freshman nine by a score of 1 to 0 yesterday afternoon at Exeter. The batting of the Freshmen was very weak, only three hits being made. In the second and eighth inning the Freshmen had men on bases and good chances to score but failed to do so because of their stupid base running. Mitchell, Maguire and Thomas were especially poor in this respect and were largely responsible for the loss of the game. Tuckerman pitched a good game. He allowed only seven scattered hits and one base on balls, and showed steadiness and good control in critical times.
