UNIVERSITY CREWS GRADED.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University crew squad was graded into a first and a second eight yesterday. Brownell was taken on the squad, and as Covel and Hartwell were slightly ill and did not row, Low was put in the second boat temporarily. The orders were as follows:

First crew--Stroke, Foster; 7, Ayer; 6, Shuebruk; 5, McGrew; 4, Swift; 3, Bullard; 2, Bancroft; bow, James; cox., Ivy.

Second crew--Stroke, Brownell; 7, Colby; 6, Smith; 5, Gregg; 4, Derby; 3, Lloyd; 2, Phillips; bow, Low; cox., Otis.

The high wind and rough water compelled the crews to row up-stream, and handicapped the work considerably. Neither crew is yet together or settled in its boat. In several short brushes, neither crew had any great advantage, but Brownell rowed a somewhat higher stroke than Foster.
