AMHERST TODAY.

Clarkson Will Pitch.--A Close Game Expected.

The University nine will play Amherst at 4 o'clock this afternoon on Soldiers Field.

Last year Harvard won from Amherst by a score of 13 to 2; but the game this afternoon will in all probability be a hard one, as Amherst has a strong team, having tied Yale, 3 to 3, in a twelve inning game; and lost to Princeton and Brown by the small scores of 3 to 0, and 3 to 2, respectively.

The make-up of the University nine will be slightly different from that in the game against Exeter. As Matthews is still unable to play, Coolidge will go in at shortstop, and either Daly or Skilton at second base. Clarkson will pitch.

Of last year's Amherst team, Shay will play at centre field, Sturgis at short-stop, and Favour at first base.

The batting orders: HARVARD.  AMHERST. Coolidge, s.s.  c.f., Shay. Devens, r.f.  l.f., Biram. Wendell, l.f.  2b., Kelliher. Clarkson, p.  3b., Raferty. Stillman, c.f.  s.s., Sturgis. Randall, 1b.  r.f., Phillips. Carr, 3b.  c., Roe. Skilton, Daly, 2b.  1b., Favour. Kernan, c.  p., Kane.
