8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
There have lately been two changes in the orders of the University eights. Cunningham rowed on the squad yesterday for the first time and was tried at two in McGrew's crew, replacing Smith. Yesterday, Phillips was put in at stroke in Bullard's crew, and Bancroft was moved to two. Hartwell rowed again yesterday after a slight illness of the last few days.
The two eights had a brush yesterday for over a mile and a half in the lower basin. For nearly a mile they remained side by side but after passing Harvard Bridge, Bullard's crew became ragged and finished two lengths behind McGrew's crew.
Coach Higginson followed the crews in the "Veritas," as the "John Harvard" has been laid up for repairs on her engines, and will not be ready for use until tomorrow. Bancroft '97 was also in the launch. Special attention is being given to keeping an even boat, training the blades low at the full reach, and getting a quick turn-over.
The orders of the crews yesterday were as follows:
Stroke, McGrew; 7, Francis; 6, Swift; 5, Ayer; 4, Foster; 3, Gregg; 2, Cunningham, Smith; bow, James; cox., Ivy.
Stroke, Phillips; 7, Bullard; 6, Shuebruk; 5, Colby; 4, Derby, Sanger; 3, Dunbar, Lloyd; 2, Bancroft; bow, Hartwell, Covel; cox., Otis.
