The Freshman nine defeated Dean Academy yesterday afternoon in a closely-played game by the score of 3 to 1.
The Freshmen showed improvement over yesterday's game, in their fielding, but their batting was deplorably weak. Clarkson pitched an excellent game, striking out 17 men, and giving Dean only two base hits. He also led the team in batting, making three base-hits out of four times at bat. The infield showed a good amount of snap and life playing their positions without an error. Bartlett at catch, made two costly errors and his throws to second were all very wild. Lancy, who was tried at first-base, in place of Foster, fielded his position satisfactorily but was weak in batting.
The score by innings: Batteries--Clarkson and Bartlett, Jenness and Towles.
