CABLE CHESS MATCH TODAY.

The fourth annual cable chess match between Oxford and Cambridge, and Harvard, Yale, Columbia and Princeton, will be held today and tomorrow. The English team will play at the British Chess Club in London and the American team at the rooms of the Boston Athletic Association. The probable makeup of the English team is as follows: W. Grundy (O), H. F. Davidson (O), H. D. Roome (O), H. A. Webb (C), F. W. Clark (C), B. Golding-Brown (C), with H. Taylor (O) and H. Bateman (C) as substitutes. Following is the order in which the American team will play: C. T. Rice (H), F. H. Sewall (C), J. Sawin (Y), J. B. Hunt (P), H. A. Keeler (C), E. B. Adams (Y).

The games will be played from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. and from 3 p. m. to 7 p. m., the number of moves per hour being limited to twenty. The scores of the previous years are as follows: 1899, Americans 2 1-2, English 3 1-2; 1900, Americans 1 1-2, English 4 1-2; 1901, drawn match, 3-3.
