The laboratory at the Botanical Garden has recently been equipped with a set of instruments which will permit a much more complete study of plant life than has yet been possible. The most interesting addition is a complicated piece of machinery for the purpose of determining the action of light and gravity on the growth of plants. A very powerful current of electricity has also been introduced into the laboratory in order to test the effect of electricity on plants. By means of a switch board, the current can be increased or diminished and the corresponding effects on plant growth may be observed.
