The chess clubs of Oxford and Cambridge universities have issued a joint challenge to the chess clubs of Harvard, Yale, Princeton and Columbia, for a cable match to defend the Rice trophy. This match, if arranged, will be held in the spring, and will be the fifth in the series of matches for this trophy; of the four previous international intercollegiate matches, Great Britain has won two. America one, and one was drawn.
