The accompanying table gives the registration in all departments of the University at the close of registration on Saturday, October 4. The total registration of the University on that date was 4,166, which shows a gain of 14 over the final registration of 4,152 in 1901-02 as recorded in the catalogue of that year, and a much larger gain over the registration on the corresponding date last year, though the precise figures for last year are not available in all departments. The registration in Harvard college, even at this date, is 107 more than the catalogue figure last year, the most remarkable gains being those of 60 in the Freshman class, 45 in the Sophomore class and 24 in the Senior class. The Scientific School already shows a gain of 22 over the catalogue figure of last year. No marked changes are yet noticeable in the Graduate School, Divinity School, Law School or Dental School, but they may all be expected to show small gains when registration is complete, as late registration is relatively large in these departments. The Medical School, at the opening of the second year since a bachelor's degree was required for admission, has 16 more in the entering class than at the corresponding time last year, though the catalogue figure of last year has not yet been reached. The graduation in June of a large class which entered under the old system would naturally produce a decrease in the total registration at the Medical School in spite of a slight gain in the entering class.
