INFIRMARY INSURANCE PLAN.

Fee of Four Dollars a Year Secures Free Accommodation.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Corporation has sent out a circular letter setting forth the plan under which the Stillman Infirmary is to be operated this year. The plan provides for the payment of an insurance fee of four dollars, in return for which free accommodation is to be provided throughout the year. Those not desiring to assume this charge may be accommodated at the rate of two dollars per day.

The Infirmary is under the direct supervision of the Medical Visitor, and its staff includes a matron and head-nurse, besides the necessary number of nurses, ward-tenders and servants. The wards can accommodate twenty patients and there are in addition nine private rooms.

Following is the plan as outlined in the circular.

All officers and students in the University who, on or before November 6, 1902, assume an annual Infirmary charge of four dollars, to be included, in the case of a student, in the February term-bill, shall be entitled to accommodation at the Infirmary on the order of a physician, provided not less than two thousand persons avail themselves of this offer.

All officers and students in the University who do not assume such a charge within the time designated shall be entitled, on the order of a physician, to accommodation at the Infirmary at the rate of two dollars for each day.

Under either plan of payment such accommodation shall include, for each patient, a bed in the wards, board, and ordinary hospital nursing. It shall not include medical attendance, it being expected that patients will be attended by their own physicians; but needy students may be attended by the Medical Visitor without charge. An extra charge shall be made for the use of private rooms and for special nursing, except that if the proper treatment of a patient who has assumed the annual fee of four dollars necessitates his isolation, he shall be accommodated in a private room without extra charge. If a needy student requires special nursing it may be provided without extra charge.

At present, the contagious diseases cannot be treated at the Infirmary, and the payment of the annual fee above mentioned will not entitle to treatment for these diseases, all cases of which in of the University will be, as heretofore, under supervision which will ensure necessary attendance by private physicians, or in the case of needy students by the Medical Visitor, and adequate care.

Officers and students of the University may assume the Infirmary charge by registering their names in due form at the Bursar's Office in Dane Hall, before November 6, thereby entitling themselves to admission to the Infirmary under the conditions stated above, at any time from the date of registration to June 25, 1903, inclusive.

Members of the University are invited to visit the Infirmary and to inspect its accommodations on any day except Sunday, between the hours of 2 and 4 p. m.
